The Port Gamble S’Klallam village was located on the west side of Port Gamble Bay at Teekalet―now the site of the Mill. S'Klallam shared fishing sites on Hood Canal with the neighboring Salish (Twana). Cedar dugout canoes were carved by the S'Klallam to navigate local waterways for food, and inter-village gatherings―a tradition that continues by the annual Canoe Journey. See the S'Klallam-style of carving at the carving shed, or visit the House of Knowledge, a longhouse intricately carved and painted in both the S'Klallam and Salish-art styles.
